Terms

Terms of Use

These terms are meant to be fair and easy to understand. The short version: you own your work, we run the service to help you explore and iterate, and you’re responsible for verifying results.

Last updated: February 13, 2026

1) What Basis is (and isn’t)

Basis is a research workflow tool. It generates drafts and suggestions, explores branches, and keeps an audit trail. It is not a guarantee of correctness, novelty, or completeness. Treat outputs as hypotheses and expect to review, test, and edit everything.

2) Your content and rights

  • You retain ownership of the text you provide and the artifacts you generate.
  • You grant Basis a limited license to store and process your content solely to operate the service for you (generate outputs, compile artifacts, show history, and provide downloads/exports).
  • If we ever want to use run content for service improvements beyond operating your runs, we want that to be opt-in.

3) Acceptable use

  • Use Basis legally and responsibly.
  • Don’t upload secrets (API keys, passwords) or sensitive personal information.
  • Don’t use Basis to harm others, harass, or facilitate wrongdoing.
  • Don’t attempt to bypass access controls, probe for vulnerabilities, or overload the service.

4) AI limitations (and no professional advice)

Outputs may contain errors, omissions, or misleading statements. Always validate claims, citations, and proofs. Basis is designed to keep you in the loop, but it is not a substitute for expert judgment. Basis is not medical, legal, financial, or safety advice.

5) Third-party services

Basis uses third-party AI providers to generate outputs. That means your run inputs (and relevant intermediate artifacts) are sent to those providers to produce results. You don’t choose which providers are used, and we may change providers over time. We use business/enterprise AI APIs that, by default, do not use your prompts and outputs to train foundation models. If you need confidentiality, keep your run content non-sensitive.

6) Availability, interruptions, and resuming

Runs can be interrupted by outages, rate limits, or provider issues. We try to persist state so you can continue from the last completed checkpoint, but we can’t promise uninterrupted service.

7) Disclaimers and liability

Basis is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Basis in the prior 12 months (or $100 if none). You’re responsible for what you publish or rely on.

8) Termination

You can stop using Basis at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if it’s reasonably necessary to protect the service, other users, or third parties, or if we believe these terms were violated.

9) Changes

If we update these terms, we’ll post an updated version here. If you don’t agree with an update, you can stop using the service and delete your runs.

10) Contact

If something seems wrong (billing, privacy, outputs, or a bug), please reach out. If you’re running from source, opening an issue is also welcome.
